How Narcissists Are Like Horror Movie Villains

Narcissists are not human. They do not have empathy. They never feel guilt or remorse. They are not capable of having an actual relationship.

Narcissists are not real people. They develop a fake self to hide the true self that they hate. They will do anything to maintain and protect the fake self. Their every action is done with the sole purpose of keeping the fake self alive and well. Because they nurture and protect the fake self the real self shrivels into nothingness.

Recently I accepted that the narcissists in my life were not real people, but creations that required sacrifices from genuine humans in order to survive. Because I am a big fan of horror movies and books, I used the creatures from the horror genre to help me understand the actions and attitudes of the narcissists in my life.

Here are the parallels I see between horror creatures and narcissists:

· Vampires — This one is commonly used by professionals and victims to illustrate how narcissists feed off of other people. Narcissists need supply (reactions, admiration, attention, etc.) in order to maintain their fake self. Supply is their life blood and they will do anything to get it.
